Oily skin is skin whose sebum production is disrupted, but before we share our tips for caring for it, do you know what sebum is? Sebum is a lipid film secreted by the sebaceous glands in the dermis to protect the skin from external aggressions.
Pollution, heat, hormonal imbalances, and even dietary habits are all factors that can cause your skin to produce excessive amounts of sebum. While oily skin is a fairly common condition, it can be difficult to find the ideal beauty routine to limit excess sebum and rebalance the skin.
How to clean oily skin?
Oily skin requires extra care, so avoid overly astringent cleansers. If you strip your skin of all its lipids, its natural response will be to increase its sebum production—a vicious cycle you can avoid by following these tips.
Remove your makeup every evening:
If your skin feels particularly oily or uncomfortable, opt for a double cleanse, which involves removing makeup from the skin using a cleansing oil or a micellar solution and to perfect the make-up removal with a gentle skin cleansing gel.
Avoid cleansing your face in the morning: If your skin feels comfortable when you wake up, there's no need to cleanse it; a little thermal water or toner will be enough. Cleansing your skin several times a day can tend to dry it out and therefore boost sebum production.
Our recommendation:
If your skin is oily with imperfections, we recommend opting for Micellar Cleansing Water of the range Grey Paste which will remove makeup and purify the skin. To perfect makeup removal, Foaming Cleansing Jelly of the same range will be ideal.

Moisturize the skin to regulate excess sebum
When skin is oily, one of the first reflexes is often to limit the use of moisturizers to avoid making the skin greasy. However, the skin needs water and lipids to function properly; not using moisturizer will therefore be the best way to dry out the skin and this lack of water could cause it to produce more sebum to compensate for this imbalance.
It is therefore essential to moisturize your skin daily, regardless of its condition, whether dry, combination or oily, the skin always needs a supply of water which must come through food and your skincare routine, the difference will be in the texture of the moisturizer you use.
For oily skin, we recommend opting for a moisturizing jelly which will provide the skin with the hydration it needs without weighing it down. Rich textures, enriched with shea butter or vegetable oils will be less recommended for this skin type.
Our recommendation:
If your skin is oily with imperfections, the Moisturizing Mattifying Emulsion formulated with probiotics will help regulate sebum production while mattifying it. The little extra: These two treatments can be applied to the skin morning and evening.

Use makeup suitable for oily skin
If your skin is oily, opt for a light foundation or a mattifying tinted cream and make sure that its composition does not contain comedogenic ingredients. Indeed, oily skin will more easily have pores clogged by excess sebum and certain ingredients, particularly mineral oils, can aggravate this phenomenon and lead to the appearance of imperfections.
How to make makeup last on oily skin?
Apply every morning a mattifying lotion soft and favor light textures. To correct shine during the day, particularly on the T-zone (forehead and nose), opt for mattifying papers which will absorb excess sebum very simply, without moving your makeup.
