Among your 2024 resolutions, taking care of yourself is still a must! For those of you who are new to it, we've listed the most common mistakes and how to fix them.

I went to bed without removing my makeup

Don't panic, it's possible to catch up and avoid seeing small spots appear a few hours later. As long as it's exceptional, of course!

The next morning, thoroughly cleanse your skin with a gentle makeup remover followed by a facial cleanser like the Grey Paste Cleansing Jelly to unclog clogged pores. If you have enough time, take the opportunity to exfoliate followed by a charcoal mask and finally moisturize your skin well.

If possible, avoid wearing makeup, drink as much water as possible throughout the day and don't forget to change your pillowcase from the day before.

I put toothpaste on a pimple

This old-fashioned trick can sometimes work because toothpaste contains baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and triclosan, three ingredients with healing and drying properties.

But be careful because in most cases this practice can be dangerous for the skin and cause burns and inflammation, even worse if the composition of your toothpaste is loaded with dyes and other harmful ingredients. We therefore avoid playing with fire (and our precious epidermis) and keep it only for our dental hygiene. For our skin, we prefer to rely on La Pâte Original Stop Bouton, formidable against occasional small pimples.

I haven't moisturized my body all winter.

Spreading cream all over your body can seem like a hassle, especially when you're shivering after getting out of the shower! However, moisturizing and nourishing your skin remains essential if you want to keep it healthy, avoid sagging and that famous "crocodile" effect that makes it feel tight.

Take advantage of the sunny days to give it a second youth by applying the long-lasting moisturizing milk Lait Hydratant 24h Rituel Douceur every day or opt for the Nourishing Cream Rituel Douceur which will firm and nourish the skin at the same time.

I did my scrub after my mask and not the other way around.

The good news is that these two products go well together and can be used consecutively, so far so good! But for a skin cleansing routine to be effective, it's imperative that the products are applied in the correct order. If the face isn't first cleansed and exfoliated, the action of the mask, whether moisturizing or purifying, will be less effective.

As a reminder, remember that exfoliation cleanses and opens pores, while masks purify and tighten them. If you're in the opposite direction, apply a serum and facial treatment after exfoliating and remember the order for next time!

I have never used serum

Often overlooked in our routine, it's the most effective product when it comes to targeting a skin problem. Rich in active ingredients, it absorbs instantly and provides a solution for dry, blemish-prone, or dull skin.

But the serum can also be used as a treatment for a few months during seasonal changes, for example, or when the skin becomes unpredictable.

For dry skin, opt for the Hydra 24+ Water Concentrate super-quenching serum. For oily or combination skin, choose the Pâte Grise Anti-Imperfection Concentrate clear skin serum. Apply to a cleansed face just before your daily skincare routine.

I abused my skin with an overly aggressive scrub

On sensitive skin, exfoliants containing grains can be abrasive. The skin then becomes red, uncomfortable, and above all, it no longer tolerates skincare or makeup.

If your skin is already on high alert, stop using exfoliants immediately and moisturize your skin as much as possible with nourishing and soothing treatments like the Soothing Cashmere Cream. Once your skin is fully regenerated (from the moment it no longer feels tight), resume your usual skincare routine by exfoliating your skin once a week with a grain-free scrub like the Grain-Free Gentle Scrub.
