Often discussed when discussing beauty routines, especially for combination to oily skin, the T-zone requires special attention. To care for it, it's important to understand its needs.
What is the T-zone?
The T-zone refers to the central part of the face, which includes the forehead, the nose and its flanks, and the chin. It is so-called because it is often represented in the shape of the letter T—the forehead forming the horizontal bar of the T, while the nose and chin form the vertical bar. This area of the face is known for being prone to blemishes and shine, and requires proper care. While it often characterizes combination skin, T-zone issues actually affect all skin types.
Why is the T-zone often oilier and shinier than the rest of the face?
The skin is made up of sebaceous glands that secrete sebum, lipids that form the skin's protective barrier: the hydrolipidic film. This film serves as a shield against external aggressions and fights against dehydration of the epidermis by retaining the water present in the inner layers of the skin. While the hydrolipidic film is essential for the proper functioning of the skin, its balance is fragile and it can happen that the sebaceous glands produce excess sebum. As a result, the skin becomes oily and shiny, pores dilate and clog more easily, while imperfections such as blackheads and comedones appear. The T-zone is said to contain a greater number of sebaceous glands and pores than the rest of the face, which is why it is particularly exposed to these problems.
How do I take care of my T-zone?
Deep cleanse to reduce excess sebum
Cleansing the T-zone twice a day, in the morning upon waking and in the evening before bed, allows the skin to clear its surface. Cleansing and makeup removal rids the epidermis of impurities accumulated on its surface during the day and removes the oily feeling on the skin. In addition, this first step prepares the epidermis to receive specific active ingredients and increases their benefits tenfold.

Use a moisturizer suitable for combination to oily skin
One of the common mistakes people make when their T-zone gets shiny and greasy easily is that they think it's best not to moisturize it to avoid the risk of making it even more oily. This may seem counterintuitive, but moisturizing the T-zone with the right skincare products will, on the contrary, reduce the shiny effect. Indeed, while oily skin may seem sufficiently moisturized, this is not the case. Like all other skin types, its hydrolipidic film needs oil to function properly. Even though it produces excess sebum, an oily T-zone needs to be moisturized to be properly protected, otherwise it will secrete even more sebum to defend itself against daily external aggressions.

Turn to targeted mattifying and anti-imperfection treatments
When the T-zone is sounding the alarm, it's time to turn to SOS treatments with targeted action to address the skin problem of the moment. Thanks to their dedicated active ingredients, they provide a rapid response when the T-zone finds itself in distress. Among them, the treatment Blackhead Solution Eliminates blackheads, which the T-zone is very often subject to. To be applied topically to the T-zone before day or night cream, this ultra-effective treatment contains an exceptional cleanser: burdock. Obtained from the root of the greater burdock, it is known to reduce blackheads, regulate sebum, and tighten pores. When the T-zone shines during the day, use blotting papers. Discreet and helpful, they immediately absorb excess sebum and mattify the T-zone in one go. These individual sheets can be slipped anywhere, ready to be whipped out at any time in case of trouble.
