A spray on the legs, one on the arms, a little on the nose... Do we always apply enough cream in the right places? Should we reapply it before or after swimming? We'll answer!
Put the (right) dose
Most of the time, at the end of the vacation, the jar is still not finished, are you sure you're applying enough? In laboratories, the protection level of a cream is assessed using a dose corresponding to 2 mg per cm2 of skin. Below this amount, the anti-UV protective filter sees its performance halved.
For the face, ears and neck, you need ½ teaspoon of cream, the same for each arm. On the other hand, you need a whole spoonful for the back and shoulders, one for the torso and one for each leg from the buttocks to the feet!
Which areas should be prioritized?
Ideally, the whole body, or at least the parts exposed to the sun! The ones that "take" the rays first are the shoulders, nose and head, so don't forget your hat! Finally, certain areas like the ears or lips are said to be "at risk", so don't neglect them! Just like our neck, hands and toes, which are often neglected.
Before or after day cream?
The order in which you apply your sunscreen is important. Apply it to cleansed skin after your moisturizing serum and/or day cream so as not to prevent the active ingredients in your skincare from penetrating the skin. The best time to reapply is every 2 hours. If you go swimming, don't forget to reapply after getting out of the water.
And after?
Once the skin is perfectly clean, apply an after-sun product to the body such as the After-Sun Soothing Gel and a plumping moisturizer for combination, normal or dry skin to the face.
