Get a head start this summer! Your skin moves with the seasons and sometimes needs a little help to get through transition periods with peace of mind. Bring a vacation feel into your bathroom by preparing your skin for summer.

Why prepare your skin for summer?

Seasonal changes require significant adaptation from the skin. When the mercury rises as summer approaches, the thermoreceptors in the epidermis signal to the nervous system that the body temperature must be maintained at 37°C. The result: vasodilation kicks in. Blood vessels dilate to more easily bring excess heat back to the skin where it will be exchanged with our environment. In addition, the skin secretes sweat and leaves a light film of water on its surface, which, when evaporated, will also help the body evacuate excess heat.

The skin is therefore very stressed during this pre-summer period and will gladly appreciate a little helping hand to carry out its various missions.

The skin is given a gentle exfoliation

Before summer, treat yourself to a scrub. It's the perfect time to renew your skin, as UV rays are less present. It's also an excellent way to prepare your skin for tanning. In one step, your skin is rid of the dead cells responsible for a dull complexion. Exfoliation refines skin texture, boosts cell renewal, and improves the penetration of skincare products applied afterward.

Once or twice a week, apply a small amount of Raspberry Gentle Scrub to your face. Massage gently, then rinse. This exfoliating oil-in-jelly provides a gentle scrub. Its jelly texture contains real raspberry seeds and transforms into an oil upon application to capture impurities on the skin without damaging it. When rinsed, it transforms into a milk, leaving your skin soft and luminous, enveloped in a delicious floral scent that evokes sunny days.

We pamper the skin with a good dose of hydration

Once exfoliated, the skin needs to be moisturized. As summer approaches, the sun becomes more and more present and the epidermis dries out more quickly. To help the skin maintain good defenses and function at its peak, we help it maintain its hydrolipidic film. Moisturizing care will recharge the skin with water while retaining this liquid supply on the surface of the epidermis to prevent its evaporation.

In addition to your day and/or night cream, you can apply a thirst-quenching facial serum like the Adaptogenic Rehydrating Serum. A source of continuous hydration for 30 hours, it reinfuses the skin with water to restore comfort and suppleness. Made with hyaluronic acid and water flower extracts, its light texture instantly penetrates the skin. Plumped and full of water, the skin no longer has any trouble fulfilling its role as a protective barrier. Don't forget to also hydrate yourself from the inside out by drinking water!

We choose suitable sun protection

While sun exposure boosts our vitamin D, increases our serotonin (the feel-good hormone!), and, of course, gives us a beautiful tan, it remains a threat to the skin. It's worth remembering that tanning is actually the skin's natural self-defense mechanism, which sees the sun as an attack.

Rightly so, since ultraviolet rays modify the DNA of skin cells and damage them. The skin then produces enzymes to repair them and protects itself by thickening its stratum corneum – this is the phenomenon of tanning. To prevent permanent or even more serious damage to skin cells, avoid prolonged exposure without protection!

By applying a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, you kill two birds with one stone: in addition to protecting your skin from the sun, you offer it an anti-wrinkle and anti-pigment spot treatment by protecting yourself from premature skin aging.

Without forgetting the body!

So far, we've talked exclusively about facial skin, but everything we've just said applies to the entire body as well. After being bundled up in clothes for weeks on end, we can't wait to get out our sandals and light dresses! To restore softness, comfort, and radiance, exfoliate and moisturize your body's skin. Our little tip: use your scrub the day before your waxing to prevent ingrown hairs. Finally, don't forget to protect your legs from UV rays with a protective sunscreen when you're out and about!
