What if, to look good and keep your tan long after returning from vacation, the solution was to exfoliate your skin regularly?
Clean skin is more receptive to the care and treatments you apply to it afterward. By removing barriers that could prevent the active ingredients in skincare products from penetrating, cleansing optimizes their effectiveness and maximizes the results for your skin. By removing impurities, dead skin cells, and excess sebum, cleansing allows the skin to breathe better and regenerate more efficiently.
I – An essential step to improve skin texture
The purpose of exfoliating or peeling is to rid the skin of dead cells and impurities that could dull the complexion and give it a dull appearance, such as makeup residue, sunscreen or pollution.
After exfoliation, the pores are unclogged, communication between the skin and the outside world is possible again and cell regeneration is restarted. After several weeks of use, you will notice that the complexion is more even, that the skin is smoother and that its texture is refined.
Our recommendation: Use a mechanical or chemical exfoliator once a week in addition to a suitable skincare routine.
II – What is the link between exfoliation and tanning?
Exfoliating your skin regularly, especially before sun exposure, helps prepare your skin. Smooth skin will help you achieve a more even tan. Contrary to popular belief, exfoliation does not remove your tan because it only affects the top layer of your skin. On the contrary, exfoliating your skin throughout the summer will help you maintain a golden tan and glowing skin for even longer.

III – Should we favor chemical exfoliation over mechanical exfoliation?
If you missed our article on the different types of exfoliants, there are two categories: those called chemical and those considered mechanical. Although its name may sound intimidating, chemical exfoliation is called this because it's the active ingredients it contains that allow for exfoliation. This is the case with AHAs, for example, which gently exfoliate the skin without irritating it by removing dead cells from the skin's surface.
Mechanical exfoliants owe their exfoliating qualities to the micro-grains or particles they contain. You will need to make circular movements on the skin after application to achieve this exfoliating effect. These exfoliants are just as effective at ridding the skin of impurities but are less gentle on more sensitive skin, so it is up to each individual to choose the treatment that suits them.
IV – Is exfoliation alone enough?
While exfoliation is very beneficial for the skin, we also recommend double cleansing daily. This will help unclog pores where makeup, sunscreen, and pollution residue tend to clump together. Skin will be clearer for longer, and a weekly exfoliation is enough to rid the skin of dead skin.
Additionally, we recommend applying a moisturizer suited to your skin type right after your routine so that your skin stays supple and maintains its beautiful tanned complexion for as long as possible.
