Acne—a tiny word that's enough to give you breakouts! Whether you've suffered from it since adolescence or more recently as an adult, you only want one thing: to get rid of it.

First and foremost, to find the right solutions, it's best to know what type of acne you're dealing with. Don't lose hope—you'll eventually get rid of it!

The different types of acne

Contrary to popular belief, acne is not the preserve of adolescence. This skin condition can also occur in adulthood, although this remains rarer (and fortunately). Commonly, acne rhymes with the appearance of blackheads, whiteheads or even red spots that are often painful and difficult to get rid of. The T-zone of the face (forehead, nose and chin) is the one most often affected by these imperfections that can quickly ruin your life.

These pimples are the result of excessive sebum production, which clogs skin pores, creating areas of inflammation and potential lesions. Certain factors also contribute to the appearance of acne, such as genetics. So, if everyone in your family has good skin, you'll probably be more likely to slip through the cracks!

Hormones also play a significant role, particularly during the premenstrual period or pregnancy. Finally, an overly rich diet, excessive sun exposure, or tobacco use are also thought to be factors that promote acne... even if nothing has been formally proven!

There are two main types of acne

Retentional acne
This is the most common form of acne, accompanied by comedones, that is, blackheads and whiteheads. On your face, imperfections are part of it, as well as excess sebum that gives your skin a shiny, even "oily" appearance. In this case, the important thing is not to touch these unsightly little pimples, to cleanse your skin with suitable skincare products and to apply a specific treatment.

Inflammatory acne
It results in the presence of red, inflamed, and painful pimples. If this is your acne, don't give up and consult a healthcare professional for immediate action.

In any case, it is recommended to make an appointment with a dermatologist to identify your type of acne and find solutions (and support) to treat it.

A beauty routine for my type of acne

Once you've identified your acne type, you'll be much better equipped to clear up blemishes on your face. The idea is to adapt your beauty routine and find what works for you. It may be tempting to follow your favorite blogger's advice, but keep in mind that what works for her may not work for you! Everyone's skin is different and won't react the same way to the active ingredients in your cosmetics.

Here are some simple, tried and tested tips to give your acne-prone skin a boost:

• Thoroughly cleanse your skin with an anti-blemish cleanser, morning and evening. The Purifying Foaming Cleansing Jelly Grey Paste, for example, contains micro-charcoal beads that gently purify.

• If you have combination to oily skin, consider applying a two-phase lotion with sebum-regulating properties for flawless skin.

• Exfoliate your skin with a very gentle exfoliant, once or twice a week at most. Thanks to its melting texture and large raspberry grains, the Exfoliating Oil Jelly will gently exfoliate your skin. We often think that acne-prone skin needs to be stripped... that's not true!

• Choose treatments with compositions specifically formulated to help fight imperfections, such as the essential Stop Imperfections Paste with zinc oxide, or the Special 5 Drying and Purifying Gel with salicylic acid.

• Conceal existing imperfections to avoid damaging your confidence. Not everyone needs to know that acne can be a real problem. Unnoticed, unnoticed, use the 2-in-2 Anti-Imperfection Pen Gray Paste to purify and correct localized imperfections on your face.

• If you suffer from moderate to severe acne, do not apply any cosmetic treatment without first discussing it with your doctor.

Let's face it, acne is far from fun. But the more you understand your type of acne, the better you'll be at treating it!
