Which assets should you avoid combining it with?
This powerful photosensitizing active ingredient should not be used with other ingredients and/or active ingredients. We do not recommend using it simultaneously with salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or vitamin C, as these exfoliating active ingredients can cause additional irritation.
The effects of retinol on the skin:
Reduction of signs of aging: Retinol is a powerful ingredient that stimulates the skin's production of collagen and elastin. These essential proteins maintain skin elasticity and firmness over the long term to prevent skin aging. It smooths the skin, helping to reduce and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Improved skin texture: By accelerating cell renewal, retinol exfoliates the skin by removing dead surface cells like a micro-peel. In the morning, the skin looks like new, luminous, smoother, and more even.
Blemish Clearing: This active ingredient helps visibly reduce imperfections like uneven and unwanted pimples. It helps unclog pores and thus reduce excess sebum production responsible for blackheads, enlarged pores, shine, and blemishes in general. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness associated with acne.
Reduction of pigment spots: With the use of retinol, the skin becomes more even and pigment spots caused by the sun fade. This active ingredient stimulates cell renewal for more even skin and reduced brown spots.
Precautions to take with retinol
Retinol use requires certain precautions to minimize potential side effects and maximize its benefits, especially for sensitive skin. Our experts recommend starting retinol gradually. If you've never used retinol before, apply it only once or twice a week. As your skin adjusts to it, gradually increase the frequency of use, up to daily use if your skin tolerates it well. We recommend starting retinol with the 10-Day Express Smoothing Treatment. This treatment allows you to alternate morning and evening between a hyaluronic acid ampoule and a retinol ampoule to hydrate and protect the skin from possible irritation caused by retinol.
We recommend using sunscreen on your face and neck. Retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun, increasing the risk of sunburn and UV damage. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 in the morning.
Finally, hydration is a major step when using retinol. It can cause dryness and irritation of the skin, especially at the beginning of the treatment. Adaptogenic Moisturizing Cream is the perfect face cream to quench and maintain the skin's moisture barrier.
